Project Goals:
Create unique visual landscaped roof enhancement complementing LEED certified hotel renovation, with active growing area for restaurant produce, active outdoor bar, while providing superior views from adjacent building. Documenting landscape design program, use, and construction techniques. On-site construction administration, shop drawing review & approvals, material approvals, landscape material selection and approval, on-site contractor direction for material locations, contractor observation, meeting minutes and notes, coordination with lead architect, roofing contractors, landscape contractors, suppliers and fabricators.
Constraints/Challenges:
Demanding, active construction schedule. Challenging communication between contractors, and Owner. Material sourcing, material deliveries and delivery methods.
Solutions:
New thin profile extensive landscape of lightweight materials not exceeding structural capability of existing roof structures.Inter office staff coordination, and intra-disciplinary consultant coordination. Construction coordination with Owner, General Contractor, roofing contractor, and landscape contractor. Established regular meetings with Owner representative, Contractors. Researching unique construction details, material specifications, surface finishes, construction costs. Review and acceptance of partial work.
Result:
A beautiful landscape facility well received by Owner, neighborhood, and users
